The stampede unfolded at the Shafa Holdings Company Plc headquarters along Jos Road during the company’s annual Zakat exercise aimed at assisting the less privileged in the state. The incident took place around 10 a.m. on Sunday, sending shockwaves through the community.

According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakili, the situation has now been stabilized. The police received a distress call from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital reporting five individuals brought in unconscious due to the stampede. Tragically, four of them succumbed to their injuries.

Providing an update on Monday, Wakili sadly announced the deaths of three more women, bringing the total casualties to seven. The deceased individuals include people of various ages and backgrounds, highlighting the profound impact of the tragedy on the community.

The names and ages of those who lost their lives are as follows: Aisha Usman (13), Sahura Abubakar (55), Aisha Ibrahim Abubakar (43), Khadija Isah (8), Maryam Suleiman (20), Maryam Shuibu (16), and Hassana Saidu (53).
