Nigeria Police: “Crossdressing Not a Crime” – Video

In an interview with Channels TV on Tuesday, April 2, the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, clarified that crossdressing is not considered a crime in Nigeria.

He emphasized that individuals cannot be arrested for crossdressing unless there is credible evidence linking them to criminal activities.

Adejobi highlighted the challenges in proving certain cases, such as rape, where specific points need to be established for successful prosecution. He emphasized the importance of having credible evidence before arresting and prosecuting individuals.

Regarding crossdressing, Adejobi stated that while it is not explicitly considered an offense, allegations often involve other illegal activities. He stressed the necessity of gathering sufficient proof and credible evidence to substantiate such claims.

He concluded by noting that offenses related to crossdressing are considered natural offenses in Nigeria and are punishable under the law.
