NiMet Forecasts 3 Days of Sunshine, Thunderstorms from Monday. The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) predicts a mix of sunshine and thunderstorms from Monday to Wednesday.

In its weather outlook released on Sunday in Abuja, NiMet anticipates sunny and hazy conditions over parts of Yobe and Borno states on Monday, with chances of thunderstorms over a section of Kebbi.

NiMet asserts that the rest of the North should encounter sunny weather with some cloudiness during the morning hours.

“We expect isolated thunderstorms in parts of Bauchi, Taraba, and Kaduna States later in the day.

The north-central region should have sunny skies with few clouds, with possibilities of isolated thunderstorms over portions of Niger, Kwara, and Benue during the morning.

“Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are anticipated over sections of Plateau, FCT, Benue, Nasarawa, and Kogi,” it adds.

NiMet forecasts the South to be cloudy with occasional sunshine and chances of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Delta, Edo, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states in the morning.

It also predicts isolated thunderstorms over sections of Enugu, Ebonyi, Anambra, Abia, Ogun, Imo, Edo, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Rivers, and Bayelsa states.

“For Tuesday, expect sunny skies with a few clouds in the north, with chances of morning thunderstorms over parts of Taraba and Adamawa states.

“Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are expected over parts of Taraba, Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, and Bauchi states. The North Central region should have sunny weather with some clouds in the morning.

“As the day progresses, isolated thunderstorms are expected over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Kogi, Plateau, and Benue states,” it notes.

NiMet anticipates the South to be cloudy with intervals of sunshine, becoming cloudier over the coastal areas during the morning.

It forecasts isolated thunderstorms over parts of Imo, Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Ondo, Edo, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Bayelsa states.

On Wednesday, NiMet envisions a sunny atmosphere over the north, with chances of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Zamfara, Kebbi, Taraba, Kaduna, Adamawa, and Bauchi states later in the day.

“Sunny skies with patches of clouds are expected over the North Central region, with chances of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Niger, Kwara, Plateau, Nasarawa, Kogi, the Federal Capital Territory, and Benue states later in the day.”

“The southern region should be cloudy with intervals of sunshine and chances of thunderstorms over parts of Enugu, Imo, Anambra, Ebonyi, Ogun, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Lagos during the afternoon or evening.

“Strong winds may precede the rains in areas where thunderstorms are likely to occur; the public should take adequate precautions.

“Airline operators are advised to obtain updated weather reports and forecasts from NiMet for effective planning in their operations,” it advises. (NAN)
