Nnamdi Kanu: Political Prisoner? Kenneth Okonkwo Weighs In

By Mobel 1 Min Read

In June, 50 House Representatives called on President Bola Tinubu to order Nnamdi Kanu’s release. On July 3, during an appearance on Arise TV’s News Day, Okonkwo labeled Kanu a ‘political prisoner.’ He stated, “The longer Nnamdi Kanu is in prison, the taller he becomes and the shorter the government becomes.”

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of IPOB, has been detained by the DSS since his June 2021 extradition from Kenya. He currently faces terrorism charges at the federal high court.

Demands for Kanu’s release have been growing, particularly from the southeast region.
