Police in Bauchi Nab Suspect in Kidnapping and Murder Case of Officer’s Child. The Bauchi State Police Command announced the arrest of a suspect linked to the abduction and murder of 12-year-old Christopher Bala in Magama town, Gumau Local Government Area.

SP Ahmed Wakil, the State Command Public Relations Officer, revealed this in a statement on Thursday.

Christopher, the victim, reportedly went missing on March 21, 2024, while running an errand. He is the son of ASP Bala Yarima, a Police officer at Gumau Division.

Upon receiving a distress call regarding Christopher’s abduction, the Police promptly took action to apprehend the perpetrators.

The suspect, Rabi’u Ibrahim, identified during preliminary investigation, confessed to the crime. He admitted to receiving a ransom of N200,000 from ASP Yarima.

Ibrahim also confessed to strangling Christopher out of fear of being recognized and burying the body in a shallow grave at Bazale village hill.

Following established procedures, the Bauchi State Police Command recovered the victim’s remains. A postmortem examination conducted at the General Hospital Toro confirmed strangulation as the cause of death.

Subsequently, the case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough investigation, following a directive by the state commissioner of police.
