Former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, arrived at the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja on Monday morning for his arraignment alongside his co-defendant, Henry Isioma Omole.

They are facing fresh charges totaling 26 counts before Justice Rahman Oshodi.

The charges, dated April 3, 2024, and filed by Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Rotimi Oyedepo on behalf of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accuse Emefiele of abusing his office between 2022 and 2023 in Lagos.

Among the allegations is that Emefiele directed the allocation of foreign exchange amounting to $2,136,391,737.33 without bids, which the EFCC claims is prejudicial to the rights of Nigerians.
