EFCC Detainment: “Bobrisky fails to meet Bail Requirements”

EFCC to arraign Bobrisky over alleged N180.7m laundering, abuse of N490,000 today

EFCC Detainment: “Bobrisky fails to meet Bail Requirements”. The widely known cross-dresser and social media figure, Idris Okuneye, commonly referred to as Bobrisky, reportedly did not meet the bail conditions set by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Bobrisky was apprehended and held in custody on Wednesday by the Lagos State Command of the Commission for alleged offenses including Naira abuse, spraying of Naira notes, and damaging currency.

EFCC’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed Bobrisky’s failure to meet bail conditions in a statement to Punch.

The EFCC previously announced Bobrisky’s arrest, stating that it occurred at Pinnock Estate in Lagos State. They also mentioned plans to bring charges against him in court soon.

Oyewale stated, “Bobrisky is currently in our custody. He was apprehended last night in Lagos, and he is being held at our Lagos command.”

“We arrested him for alleged Naira abuse, spraying of Naira notes, and currency damage, among other offenses. We are committed to upholding the integrity of the Naira. Although our investigation is ongoing, he will be prosecuted in court soon.”

In a social media post, the EFCC mentioned inviting the 31-year-old following a video showing him displaying bundles of new Naira notes at the premiere of a movie produced by Nollywood actress and producer Eniola Ajao at Film One Circle Mall, Lekki, Lagos, on March 24, 2024.

The investigation also revealed alleged similar incidents at other venues and events.

After responding to the Commission’s invitation, Bobrisky appeared at the Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC on the morning of Wednesday, April 4, 2024, for questioning and provided his statement voluntarily.

“He will face legal charges once our investigation is completed.”
